The Media Office of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of carrying out a politically motivated agenda against the ex-governor.
In a statement signed by Ohiare Michael, Bello’s team criticized the EFCC’s recent actions, labeling them as biased and driven by personal interests rather than a genuine fight against corruption.
The EFCC had earlier declared Bello wanted, creating a media frenzy. However, reports indicate that the former governor voluntarily appeared at the agency’s headquarters but was allowed to leave without any charges filed against him.
The statement questioned the EFCC’s motives, asking why no action was taken if the agency was serious about prosecution.
Bello’s media team urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in and ensure fairness in the conflict, calling for an impartial and equitable fight against corruption. “Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians,” the statement emphasized, advocating for a balanced approach to governance and accountability.
