‘We Won’t Always See Eye-To-Eye’ – Obama On Trump’s Victory

Former US President Barack Obama has publicly responded to the 2024 presidential election results following Vice President Kamala Harris’s concession speech.

In a joint statement with former First Lady Michelle Obama, the former president offered congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump, while candidly acknowledging, “this is obviously not the outcome we hoped for.”

The Obamas had been highly active in the final weeks of the 2024 campaign, rallying support and joining Harris on the campaign trail. Despite their efforts and the influence they wielded, Harris was unable to secure a victory.

“America is not immune” to shifts in public sentiment, the Obamas noted, attributing the Republican Party’s widespread success in national and state elections to the country’s current socio-economic climate.

“America has endured significant challenges over the past few years,” they wrote. “In a nation as vast and varied as ours, it’s inevitable that we won’t always agree on everything. Yet progress demands that we approach each other with good faith and grace – even when we strongly disagree.”

The statement was posted on X shortly after Vice President Harris delivered her concession speech at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she officially acknowledged her loss to Trump.
