OwelekeTV — Napoli have turned down a €65m offer from Galatasaray for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, as the Turkish club attempted to make his loan move permanent.
Reports indicate that Galatasaray’s bid fell short of the €75m release clause set for Osimhen, a clause that only applies to the Turkish club during the winter transfer window.
This unique arrangement, included in the loan agreement, ensures that if Osimhen moves to another club in January, Galatasaray will receive €6m in compensation, effectively increasing his release clause to €81m for other suitors.
The 26-year-old forward initially had a €130m release clause in his Napoli contract, but the figure was renegotiated last summer before his temporary switch to Galatasaray.
Since arriving in Turkey, Osimhen has been in top form, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in 20 appearances, further boosting his value in the market.
Despite growing interest, Osimhen had previously stated his commitment to seeing out his loan spell, affirming,
“I will not leave in January, I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about afterwards, but if they come to me, we will talk.”
The Nigerian international’s reputation skyrocketed after a phenomenal 2022/23 season with Napoli, where he netted 26 goals, won the Serie A Golden Boot, and played a pivotal role in securing the club’s first league title in over three decades.
With clubs still circling, attention now shifts to whether Galatasaray will return with an improved bid before the end of the transfer window.
