In a bold restructuring move, President Bola Tinubu has replaced Hon. Emeka Atuma with Emeka Nworgu as Chairman of the South East Development Commission (SEDC). Along with this change, the President made several key appointments to reshape the Commission’s leadership.
Stanley Ohajuruka has been appointed the new Executive Director for Finance, taking over from Anthony Ugbo, while Toby Okechukwu will now head the Projects department, replacing Obinna Obiekweihe. Chief Sylvester Okonkwo assumes the role of Executive Director for Corporate Services, succeeding Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja.
Hon. Mark C. Okoye retains his position as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, remaining a core member of the newly expanded 16-member board.

Two executive directors, Chidi Echeazu and Clifford Ogbede, have been nominated without specific portfolios, joining the revamped board.
President Tinubu has also kept several previous board members, including Barr. Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Adama Ali Kumo, as well as Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, and Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
All nominations are subject to Senate confirmation.
The presidency expressed that the newly appointed leaders, with their vast experience, are expected to push forward the Commission’s mandate and accelerate development in the Southeast region.
