“Sports activities in Kaduna State would experience a big boom under the administration of Governor Uba Sani,” said the Director of Sports, Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim, who expressed those feelings.
Speaking with sports writers on Monday at Murtala Square, where he represented the ministry at the closing of Phase Two of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League, he said that the track record of the new governor is a positive indicator for the sector in the state.
“We are excited by the new governor’s swearing-in and are very optimistic that it will bring about positive development in sports in the state,” he said.
The Director of Sports pointed out that while serving just a term as Senator Representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Senator Uba Sani built no fewer than seven sports centers in his constituency.
He, however, appealed to the governor to appoint someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about the sector to head the ministry as commissioner.
He congratulated Governor Uba Sani on his swearing-in while assuring him of the ministry’s support in further taking Kaduna State to greater heights.
On the performance of Kaduna’s team at the beach soccer league, he said all hope was not lost, as they would be adequately motivated to retain the title won last year at the third and concluding phase of the league billed for Lagos.
