OwelekeTV News — A senior police officer, Modestus Ojiebe, serving with the Kwara State Police Command, has been abducted by armed men along the Kubwa Expressway in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Reports indicate that the incident took place late on Sunday night near the Dei-Dei barracks after Ojiebe’s Toyota Corolla broke down. While he was attempting to fix the vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz of ash color carrying four armed men stopped behind him.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency platform focused on the Lake Chad region,
“The assailants searched and robbed Ojiebe and his wife of their mobile phones and ATM cards. Upon discovering his police identity card, they forced him into their vehicle and sped off, leaving his wife and their car at the scene.”
Following the abduction, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dawaki division was alerted, and a patrol team was immediately dispatched to the location.
Makama further reported,
“Security operatives have since intensified stop-and-search operations at various entry and exit points of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in an effort to rescue the officer and apprehend the culprits.”
The development has raised security concerns in the nation’s capital, as authorities work to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the abducted officer.
