OwelekeTV — Former President Muhammadu Buhari has asserted that Nigeria witnessed significant improvements in both the economy and security during his administration from 2015 to 2023.
Buhari made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) at his country home in Daura.
Recalling the challenges he inherited upon assuming office, Buhari said the country was grappling with a dire economic crisis and severe security threats, including widespread terrorist activities.
However, he maintained that by the time he left office in May 2023, the nation was in a better state both economically and in terms of security.
“I inherited an economy in crisis and a country plagued by insecurity, but by the time I left office, Nigeria had witnessed significant improvements in these critical areas,”
Buhari noted.
The former leader expressed confidence in the country’s trajectory, adding that he believes Nigeria will continue to make progress under successive administrations.
Buhari officially handed over power to his successor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also of the APC, on May 29, 2023.
