Corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices are crucial for sustainable business activities. However, some communities in Nigeria’s Niger Delta are facing discriminatory payments from Shell Petroleum Development Company Ltd, which are not in line with the law.
These communities and families have been paid N200,000 per hectare, a difference from the usual rate before the 2014–2018 rental payment cycle.
The affected communities filed a petition for legislative investigation, yet, Shell is adamant about it.
