Reinstated Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has issued a strong warning to Governor Godwin Obaseki, threatening to reveal alleged misconduct if the governor’s allies continue to insult him.
Shaibu, who recently switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this statement while speaking to reporters after attending a Sunday Mass at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.
The Deputy Governor disclosed that he had endured Obaseki’s actions for over 15 months, but recent developments had pushed him beyond his limit.
He asserted that the governor had mistaken his silence for weakness and warned that he was prepared to disclose several alleged wrongdoings by Obaseki.
Shaibu stressed the importance of accountability in governance and urged religious leaders to avoid bestowing undeserved divine titles, such as “God’s Servant Governor,” on politicians.
He criticized Obaseki’s leadership, accusing him of engaging in actions that run counter to the ideals of servant leadership. Among these actions, Shaibu cited incidents of the governor allegedly clashing with the church, revoking Certificates of Occupancy from underprivileged citizens, demolishing homes of opposition figures, and committing other acts he deemed unjust.
Shaibu also appealed to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to resist political manipulation and stand firm against the perpetuation of injustice.
He encouraged the Christian community to serve as a beacon of hope for all citizens, ensuring that their faith remains pure and free from political bias.
