Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has resumed his duties and warned his staff to return to work or face sanctions.
In a video broadcast shared on his X handle on Monday, Shaibu emphasized the Federal High Court’s ruling that reinstated him, declaring his impeachment illegal.
Upon his return to Edo State after the judgment, Shaibu revealed that an assassination attempt was made on his life, which instead injured a police officer attached to the state’s APC governorship candidate for the upcoming September 21 election.
Shaibu noted that suspects related to the incident have been arrested and provided crucial information. He also mentioned that he has requested the state governor’s approval for the reinstatement of his aides, but has yet to receive a response.
Shaibu reiterated that his office was never vacant according to the court ruling, and declared all bank transactions made during his absence illegal and void.
