Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, affirmed his intent to remain in office until the upcoming governorship election on November 11, following a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that upheld his position.
Speaking on Arise TV’s morning show, Shaibu criticized Governor Godwin Obaseki for not paying his salary for the past year despite the court’s decision reaffirming his role. He emphasized his commitment to lawfulness and stated his readiness to resume office, maintaining peace while asserting the respect due to his office.
Shaibu also disclosed his alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC), distancing himself from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He clarified that his support for the APC’s gubernatorial candidate aligns with his personal choice and asserted his right to back any candidate regardless of party affiliations.
Addressing the issue of political support within the PDP, Shaibu highlighted constitutional provisions allowing individuals to support candidates of their choice across party lines.
