Prison experts have addressed the ongoing controversy regarding where crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, served his six-month prison term for naira abuse.
Bobrisky, who was sentenced on April 12, 2024, by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos, was released from prison on August 5.
However, questions arose after a leaked recording, shared by influencer Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan), allegedly featured Bobrisky claiming to have bribed EFCC officials with ₦15 million to avoid serving time.
Prison experts, including Bishop Kayode Williams, Director General of the Prison Rehabilitation Mission, explained on Arise TV that Bobrisky was separated from other inmates to ensure his safety, citing potential risks posed by other prisoners.
Former National PRO of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, confirmed the protective custody arrangement but denied allegations of a VIP section.
