Presidency Compares Peter Obi to Donald Trump, Citing Use of Negative Rhetoric

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, has likened Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Ajayi made the comparison on Wednesday, in response to the U.S. presidential debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

On his X handle, Ajayi stated that both Obi and Trump use harsh language to criticize their respective countries in an effort to win voter sympathy.

“Peter Obi is the Nigeria version of Donald Trump,” Ajayi remarked, adding that, “Kamala Harris prosecuted Trump very well during their debate, exposing his weaknesses.”

Ajayi noted that fact-checkers found Harris made one incorrect claim during the debate, while Trump was flagged for 33 false statements within the same 90-minute period.
