The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has voiced his disappointment over the treatment he received from Governor Godwin Obaseki despite his dedicated service to the administration.
Shaibu revealed his sentiments during a visit to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Wednesday evening, where he addressed journalists.
He recounted how he had sacrificed extensively for Governor Obaseki’s success, emphasizing his commitment to the state above personal gain. Shaibu clarified allegations regarding the return of official vehicles, asserting that most vehicles in his convoy were personally owned, except for one Jeep provided by the governor.
When asked about the possibility of reconciliation with Obaseki, Shaibu acknowledged the imperfections of human relationships and emphasized the importance of forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.
Reflecting on his contributions to the administration, Shaibu highlighted his decision to forego many official entitlements and earnings to maintain harmony. He expressed dismay over recent challenges and disputes, particularly regarding vehicle ownership.
Looking ahead, Shaibu underscored the collective effort required to restore APC’s leadership in Edo State, criticizing what he described as Obaseki’s authoritarian rule that, he believes, is unsustainable.
