Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has expressed his willingness to collaborate with other politicians ahead of the 2027 election.
In an interview with News Central, Obi stated that he is open to working with anyone, including the former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. However, he emphasized that such partnerships must focus on improving the lives of Nigerians, not just winning elections.
“I’m ready to collaborate with anyone who is interested in lifting people out of poverty,” Obi said. “If the collaboration is for state capture or just to win elections, I will not be part of it.”
When asked if he would consider being a vice-presidential candidate, Obi indicated he was open to the idea if he found someone more capable than himself. “Quite frankly, I’m not desperate to be President of Nigeria. I am desperate to see Nigeria work,” he said.
Obi also affirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, stating he had no plans to leave. “If anyone approaches us for negotiation or collaboration, they must first explain their purpose,” he added.
