Peter Obi Condoles Families of Victims in Fatal Abagana Market Accident

Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragic accident that occurred at the Oye-Agu Abagana Market in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Wednesday.

The incident involved a Toyota Sienna that lost control of its brakes, crashing into the market, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a child. Several traders were also severely injured, and goods were destroyed in the process.

Ben Okongwu, President-General of the Abagana Community, confirmed the fatalities and injuries caused by the accident.

In a message shared on Thursday, Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, expressed his sorrow and urged the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to enforce road safety regulations more rigorously.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the fatal road accident at the Abagana Market in Anambra State, which claimed lives and left others injured. I urge the FRSC to strengthen road safety enforcement and ensure all road users comply with traffic regulations.

My heartfelt condolences go to the bereaved families, and I pray for a speedy recovery for the injured,” Obi wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
