Ward executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State have suspended former Senator Dino Melaye. The suspension was enforced by the PDP leadership in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, after Melaye failed to respond to an invitation from the party.
The Ward executive committee cited Melaye’s alleged involvement in anti-party activities and misconduct as reasons for the suspension. The decision was made during a meeting held in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1 on Friday, where the report from a disciplinary committee investigating the accusations against Melaye was reviewed.
The suspension was confirmed in a resolution signed by Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Secretary Yodson Dayo.
The statement reads: “Senator Dino Melaye’s actions have caused embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer acceptable.
“Therefore, the Ward party exco suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately.”
The suspension aligns with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which grants Ward executives the authority to take disciplinary measures against members in violation of party rules.
