PDP Asserts Wike Is Not Above the Party Amid Rising Tensions

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asserted that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is not above the authority of the party.

This statement was made on Monday by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, during a press conference in Abuja.

The party’s declaration comes in response to remarks made by Wike in Port Harcourt on Saturday, where he cautioned PDP governors against interfering in the party’s affairs in Rivers State and threatened to “put fire in their states.”

The former Governor of Rivers State also claimed that no one could wrest control of the PDP structure in the state from him.

In reaction to Wike’s comments, Ologunagba stated, “What I can tell you is that nobody is above this party. It is the People’s Democratic Party.”

He further added, “We have established reconciliation and disciplinary committees and have given them the mandate to carry out their duties. We will await their report.”
