Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has revealed that her husband, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has no intentions of contesting in the 2027 presidential election, despite calls from political stakeholders urging him to run.
Speaking during an event with the Greater Igbo Forum in Abuja, she stated that Jonathan has already held the highest political office in Nigeria and has no further political ambitions.
“My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again,” she declared.
She emphasized that the former president remains committed to supporting the current government in its efforts to build a better Nigeria.
In her address, she also urged the Igbo people to unite for the collective good, setting aside personal and political differences. “We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she questioned.
Patience Jonathan further encouraged unity and love within the Igbo community, stressing the importance of being one another’s keeper.
