In a strong show of support, members of the Osun State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
The endorsement came during a plenary session on Tuesday, where Adewumi Adeyemi (Obokun) moved the motion, seconded by Taofiq Olayiwola (Ede South). All 26 lawmakers—25 from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC)—backed the vote of confidence.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun praised the governor in honour of his 65th birthday, applauding his progress on a five-point agenda and what he described as a genuine commitment to the development of Osun State.
Lawmakers echoed the sentiment, with Simeon Popoola (Boripe-Boluwaduro) highlighting Adeleke’s integrity, simplicity, and love for the people as central to his effective governance.
“Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance,” Popoola remarked.
With this strong legislative backing, Adeleke’s re-election ambitions appear to be gaining momentum within the state.
