Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has allocated a sum of ₦2.4 billion for the acquisition of 25 Toyota sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the state House of Assembly, according to details from the state’s 2024 approved budget obtained by SaharaReporters.
The governor signed the ₦703 billion “Budget of Sustained Growth and Development” into law on December 30, 2023. This budget comprises ₦415.66 billion for capital expenditure and ₦287.37 billion for recurrent expenditure.
The breakdown of the budget reveals that ₦2,177,700,000.00 has been earmarked for the procurement of “25 NO OF TOYOTA PRADO VX, AUTO, LEATHER SEAT, HIGH GRADE” for the state House of Assembly. Additionally, ₦161,772,000.00 is allocated for the purchase of a Toyota LC3003.5L, twin turbo designated for the House Speaker, while ₦143,106,000.00 is allotted for another Toyota LC300GX, 4.0L under the state assembly.
Furthermore, the budget document indicates that ₦18,971,887,528.84 is allocated under the “Office of the Governor” for contingencies to address unforeseen circumstances.
