The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 27-year-old automobile technician, Abiodun Ajao, for allegedly stealing a customer’s vehicle and dismembering it for sale.
The arrest took place on Friday, with the NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer, Dyke Ogbonnaya, confirming the incident in a statement. The suspect, identified as Ajao, was apprehended in Ijebu Imusin, Ogun State, after he had driven the stolen vehicle from Lagos to the area.

According to Ogbonnaya, Ajao had already begun disassembling the vehicle, a Lagos-registered car with the number plate BDG 956-FJ, in preparation for selling the parts to prospective buyers.
When questioned by NSCDC operatives, Ajao claimed that the vehicle’s engine was faulty, and he was attempting to find buyers for the parts, as the engine was no longer in working condition. However, further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been brought to him for repairs, and Ajao was test-driving it to assess the work done before returning it to the owner.
“The suspect admitted that he had already driven the car to various locations in Lagos, even carrying passengers, before bringing it to Ijebu Imusin, where he was caught dismantling it along the Epe road,” Ogbonnaya stated.
During questioning, Ajao confessed to the crime and has since been pleading with NSCDC officers for forgiveness. He is currently in custody as investigations continue.
