Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and President of the 10th Senate, Godswill Akpabio has dismissed claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks influence in the state.
Speaking at a rally in Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, where APC presented flags to its candidates for the October 5 local government elections, Akpabio pledged to deliver numerous projects, appointments, and empowerment initiatives to his constituency.
In his address, Akpabio stated, “There are those who say APC doesn’t exist in Akwa Ibom. I assure you, nobody can dismiss APC here. You haven’t seen anything yet. I will embarrass you with projects, appointments, and empowerment.”
Highlighting ongoing development efforts, Akpabio outlined various initiatives, including the construction of 42 new roads, 30 schools, 14 ICT centers, and several health facilities. He also launched the Godswill Obot Akpabio (GOA) Back to Farm Initiative, providing 600 bags of fertilizer per local government area, alongside rice distribution to communities.
Akpabio expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for supporting Akwa Ibom’s residents with federal appointments and financial aid programs, noting, “Many students will receive scholarships, and we are empowering those not in school through various initiatives, including the farm program.”
As the local elections approach, Akpabio voiced confidence in Governor Umo Eno’s democratic principles, assuring that APC victories would be respected.
