A faction of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Niger State has openly rejected the leadership of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, declaring his influence detrimental to the party’s growth and stability.
Dr. Gilbert Agbo, the factional National Chairman leading the anti-Kwankwasiya movement, made this announcement during the North Central Zonal meeting at the party’s secretariat in Minna. Agbo emphasized that Kwankwaso’s suspension by the National Working Committee in Lagos rendered him ineligible to continue as a party leader.
In a symbolic gesture of defiance, Agbo oversaw the burning of the signature red caps worn by Kwankwasiya members at the party’s state office, signifying a formal break with Kwankwaso’s faction.
Agbo also revealed that Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf of Kano State is expected to face the party’s disciplinary committee for failing to uphold the party’s principles and authority.
However, Mallam Danladi Umar Abdulhamid, the leader of the Kwankwasiya Movement in Niger State, dismissed Agbo’s claims, arguing that his chairmanship is illegitimate and serves a personal agenda. Abdulhamid reaffirmed that Kwankwaso remains the recognized national leader of the NNPP under Dr. Ahmed Ajuji’s leadership.
