The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has initiated a comprehensive effort to address the obstacles hindering crude oil production in Nigeria, declaring a proactive stance against these factors.
Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, announced this during his keynote address at the inaugural event of the 23rd Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (NOG Energy Week) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Kyari emphasized that NNPC is equipped with the necessary tools to confront these challenges head-on and assured collaboration with partners and stakeholders to achieve success in this endeavor.
He highlighted that detailed assessments have shown Nigeria’s potential to produce up to two million barrels of crude oil daily without additional rigs, underscoring timely action as crucial to overcoming current impediments.
“We are ending the debate and declaring a proactive response to the challenges affecting our crude oil production,” Kyari stated firmly. “This initiative is a decisive move. We are prepared with the right strategies and are actively engaging our partners to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.”
The NNPC CEO emphasized that this initiative, akin to a ‘war’ effort, aims to swiftly address identified obstacles, particularly delays in procurement processes, which have posed significant challenges in the industry.
The declaration underscores NNPC’s commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s oil production sector through strategic and collaborative efforts with industry stakeholders.
