The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, has destroyed a six-hectare Indian hemp farm located in Alaka village and arrested four suspects connected to the illegal cultivation. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
This was disclosed by the Ogun State Commandant of the NDLEA, Tijani Rabe, during a press conference in Abeokuta on Thursday. The event was part of the agency’s 2024 performance review.
Highlighting the agency’s achievements, Rabe revealed that 675 drug offenders were arrested in the state over the past year. He added that 9.7 tons of solid drugs and 537.81 litres of liquid-based illicit substances were confiscated.

“Operation Closed Gates was initiated as part of our Yuletide strategy and has yielded remarkable success,”
Rabe said.
“It targeted drug merchants and syndicates, effectively blocking access routes into the state.”
The command also prioritized public awareness campaigns, conducting 128 sensitisation programmes across schools, communities, and workplaces to educate people about the dangers of drug abuse.
“The agency estimates that approximately 27,648 people benefited from these initiatives aimed at educating the public on the dangers of drug abuse, and 221 convictions against drug offenders were secured,” Rabe added.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and misuse while ensuring public safety through continuous enforcement and education.
