Both the Senate and the House of Representatives have announced an early resumption from their Sallah and end-of-session break, moving the date from July 2nd to Thursday, June 27th.
This decision, aimed at addressing crucial national assignments, was confirmed by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committees on Media and Public Affairs, and Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Clerk of the House of Representatives.
Senator Adaramodu highlighted that the Senate’s constitutional mandate to regulate its sessions prompted the early resumption. He emphasized the need to address appropriation matters, along with constitutional and electoral concerns, before the annual recess later in the year.
Similarly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria informed House members through an internal memo dated June 24, 2024, titled “Change in Resumption Date from Recess,” urging them to adjust their schedules accordingly for the earlier plenary session scheduled for 11:00 am on June 27th.
Key among the issues slated for discussion is the 2024 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, expected to be presented by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly on Thursday.
