Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has asserted that many of the protesters in the state during the recent #EndBadGovernance demonstrations were young Almajiris who were unaware of the reasons behind the protests.
The nationwide protests, which began peacefully on August 1, later escalated into chaos, especially in some northern states, leading to the imposition of curfews.
In an interview on Thursday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today, Governor Sule voiced concerns over the challenges facing the northern region.
He noted that many of the protesters were very young and did not understand the purpose of the demonstrations.
Sule stated, “During the recent protests in Lafia, most of those who took to the streets were Almajiris—some as young as five, seven, or nine years old. Many of them did not even comprehend the meaning of the protest. When I later spoke with some of them, they admitted they had no idea what they were protesting against.”
