The National Working Committee of the Labour Party (LP), led by Julius Abure, has urged the National Security Adviser and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and leaders of Afenifere for alleged misuse of campaign funds from the 2023 election.
At a press conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday, LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, claimed over N12 billion and $15 million in donations were diverted during the campaign.
He further accused Yesufu, Ighodalo, and others of acting under Obi’s direction to mismanage the funds.
Arabambi also implicated Afenifere leaders, including Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Akin Osuntokun, accusing them of holding over N600 million in private accounts tied to Afenifere. He urged a full investigation into these financial dealings.
However, Dr. Yunisa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obedient Movement, dismissed the allegations, calling them baseless and defending the transparency of the campaign funds. Afenifere leaders stated they would respond if necessary after reviewing the accusations.
