Former Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Speaking at a rally in Ojo, Lagos State, on Friday, May 16, Jandor emphasized that his decision to return to the APC was influenced by what he described as the “selfless and reform-driven” leadership style of President Tinubu.
“Our conviction to come back home is as a result of the reforms that Mr President is doing,” he said.
“Removal of fuel subsidy makes Tinubu a selfless President because he would have ordinarily allowed the status quo to remain to secure second term in office. The President is poised about doing what is best for the country and the reforms are yielding results for the country now.”
“That is why we are going to do everything humanly possible to make sure we work for his re-election. Our priority is to ensure that we see to how this man will return in 2027 to give to further reposition the country.”
Adediran had resigned from the PDP on March 3, 2025, after failing to win the Lagos governorship election in 2023. His return to the APC marks a significant realignment in Lagos politics, especially considering the grassroots influence of his Lagos4Lagos Movement, which accompanied him back to the ruling party.
Welcoming Jandor back, Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, described the return as a homecoming that would strengthen the APC’s base in the state. He urged party members to embrace Adediran and his supporters.
“Put in your best. Let your best be known to all of us. We are there to recognise you. We are going to do everything possible to integrate you,” Ojelabi said.
“Let us come together. We are going to use our own votes as investment to be able to negotiate for involvement in the government.”
Ojelabi also reaffirmed that Jandor would play a significant role in the party’s future strategies.
The rally witnessed the presence of several high-profile APC members, including former Lagos Deputy Governor Sarah Sosan, federal and state legislators, and other political leaders.
Jandor’s move is viewed by analysts as a significant political recalibration that could influence the structure of Lagos politics ahead of the 2027 elections. His commitment to Tinubu’s second-term bid signals a growing consolidation within the APC amid recent defections and internal realignments.
