Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 21, 2024, Edo State governorship election, has given former Governor Adams Oshiomhole a seven-day ultimatum to retract alleged defamatory statements made against him on national television.
During an interview on Arise TV, Oshiomhole reportedly described Ighodalo as unelectable and lacking the qualities necessary to govern Edo State.
Despite being cautioned by the program’s moderators, Oshiomhole persisted in his claims, which Ighodalo asserts were defamatory and damaging to his reputation.
In a letter dated August 12, 2024, from his legal team, Ayo Asala (SAN) & Associates, Ighodalo demands public and private apologies from Oshiomhole, to be published in Vanguard and ThisDay Newspapers.
Failure to meet these demands, Ighodalo warns, will result in a ₦20 billion lawsuit for damages.
