Caleb Mutfwang, the new governor of Plateau State, has bemoaned the situation resulting from Simon Lalong, saying that he inherited a N200 billion debt load.
However, Caleb declared in his inaugural speech that he was prepared to transform the terrible situation and work for the benefit of the populace shortly after being sworn in as the new governor at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.
He said this as he issued a warning to those responsible for the spate of attacks and murders in the state, saying that his new administration would not put up with such heinous behaviour.
The governor said that the recent genocidal assaults had generated animosity, mistrust, and unwarranted rage in the state.
Caleb said;
“I understand clearly the enormity of the task before me, and I have no illusions that it is going to be an easy ride.
“The state is presently under a huge debt burden of over N200 billion; the health care sector is in need of urgent attention; our school system requires a comprehensive overhaul, our infrastructure is decayed and inadequate; and practically, every sector requires urgent redress.”
“The time has come and the time is now; when we must say enough is enough.
“I must also sound a note of warning to others who converted these waves of attacks as excuses for committing crime by stealing or sometimes putting innocent persons in jeopardy in the name of revenge to know that this would no longer be tolerated.”
