Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called on Nigerian youths to prioritize dialogue and set aside plans for protests scheduled for August.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that the federal government acknowledges the concerns of Nigerian youths regarding the country’s current situation. He made these remarks during a meeting with the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and other youth organizations in the state on Wednesday.
Highlighting his administration’s efforts, Governor Abiodun noted that Ogun State has been implementing measures to tackle challenges and actively involve youths in governance. He pointed to initiatives such as job creation through a dedicated portal, local content laws, and appointments of youths to key roles in government.
The governor underscored the importance of constructive dialogue and civic engagement in addressing grievances rather than resorting to protests, which he attributed to unidentified groups.
“We encourage our youth to choose dialogue over protests,” Governor Abiodun stated. “While we acknowledge concerns and criticisms, we remain committed to our development agenda. Objective criticism helps us improve our services to the state.”
Governor Abiodun expressed confidence that through collaborative efforts and dialogue, Ogun State can effectively address challenges and continue on its path towards a brighter future for all residents.
