Turkish club Galatasaray has officially announced the signing of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, unveiling him earlier today, September 4, 2024.
Galatasaray shared the news across all their social media platforms, posting photos and videos of the 25-year-old Nigerian forward wearing the club’s jersey. One of the images posted on their verified X page shows Osimhen seated behind a table, posing as though he is signing a document.
In a video shared by the English version of Galatasaray’s X page, the scene opens in a nightclub where characters are dancing while wearing various masks. The music abruptly stops, and Osimhen emerges from the darkness dressed in a black suit and his signature facemask. As he steps into the light, the other characters appear shocked by his presence.
A Europa League trophy then appears, and Osimhen points to it, declaring, “We are the best,” a phrase from the club’s well-known chant. The video concludes with Osimhen placing his facemask beside the Europa League trophy, possibly symbolizing Galatasaray’s ambition to win the title this season.
Victor Osimhen, who had been eager to leave Napoli this summer, ultimately chose Galatasaray after last-minute moves to Chelsea and Al-Ahli fell through as the European transfer window closed.
The Nigerian striker has joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan, which includes a break clause that could allow him to move to specific clubs willing to pay his reduced release clause of €75 million in January.
As part of the deal, Galatasaray will cover €6 million of Osimhen’s €10 million annual salary, with his parent club, Napoli, responsible for the remaining amount.
