‘G.Os & People possessed by demons!’ Late Akeredolu’s Wife, Betty Blames Husband’s Death on Ignored Warnings

OwelekeTV— Betty Akeredolu, the wife of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, says the former governor of Ondo would not have died of cancer if he had listened to her.

Akeredolu died on December 27, 2023, aged 67, from prostate cancer complications.

In an interview with Olumide Akinrinlola, publisher of Star News, Akeredolu’s wife said if her late husband had chosen medical treatment over spiritual practices, he would have still been alive.

“When it comes to religion, I tell people to keep to their lanes while I keep mine. Aketi understood me, and we managed our differences, yet we had a happy marriage. He was religious, while I wasn’t. I was wired differently, and I make no apologies for that,”

she said.

“What came out of their mountain climbing, ‘blessed handkerchiefs, water, olive oil’, etc., from the GOs and all the noisy prayers like people possessed by demons? If Aketi had listened to me, I wouldn’t be a widow.”

Betty, a breast cancer survivor, said she has an understanding of biology and behaviour of the disease because of her academic background.

She added that it was impossible to believe that cancer could be caused by spiritual attacks.

Akeredolu’s Death

Recall The governor, aged 67, died on Wednesday morning after a prolonged health battle.

Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), ex-president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and ex-Attorney General of Ondo State, was a second-term governor before his death.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, announced the governor’s death in a statement.

“Mr. Governor peacefully departed from this world in the early hours of today, Wednesday, December 27, 2023,”

she wrote.

“This tragedy has left behind a profound void in our hearts. Governor Akeredolu answered the eternal call while receiving medical treatment in Germany. He succumbed to complications arising from protracted prostate cancer.”

Ademola-Olateju said a letter has been sent to President Bola Tinubu to inform him of Akeredolu’s passing, adding that the family and the state government will release further details regarding the funeral arrangements.
