As the Edo State governorship election nears, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi has assured voters that rigging will not be tolerated.
Speaking at the final rally for the Labour Party’s candidate, Olumide Akpata, in Benin, Obi declared that the era of electoral fraud is over.
“Election rigging is coming to an end in this country. This time around, anyone who rigs election, we will rig him,” Obi stated firmly, warning that those attempting to manipulate the September 21 election would face consequences.
Obi criticized governors who shift responsibility to the federal government, promising that Akpata would focus on addressing the needs of Edo State residents. He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure a free and fair election.
Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s 2023 running mate, also encouraged Labour Party supporters to mobilize in large numbers to secure victory for Akpata and his running mate, Yusuf Kadiri, this Saturday.
