The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the upcoming September 21 election in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has promised to concede defeat if he loses the election under fair conditions.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Monday, Ighodalo expressed confidence in his chances of winning, stating that based on his assessment, he expects victory.
He urged Edo residents to come out and vote, assuring them that their safety would be guaranteed during the election.
“Only the people of Edo will decide who becomes the next governor,” he said.
He also shared a conversation with his daughter about the possibility of losing: “She asked, ‘Daddy, you’re not used to losing. How would you handle it if you lost?’ I told her, honestly, if we lose fairly and squarely, I’ll be the first to concede.”
However, Ighodalo emphasized that with a level playing field, he believes his team will win, as they have gained the trust of the people through their campaign efforts.
