OwelekeTV News — The Niger State Police Command has detained an officer whose stray bullet injured Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI), Christian Oladimeji, during an operation in Minna.
The officer, along with colleagues who were on duty at the time, is currently undergoing disciplinary procedures.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred when a police patrol team was attempting to recover suspected stolen items but was confronted by hoodlums.
In the ensuing commotion, a bullet from a police firearm struck Oladimeji, leaving him with a gunshot wound.
To support his medical treatment, the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, approved a N1 million cash donation to the officer’s family.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed that the CP was represented at the event by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Aminu Garba.
While presenting the donation, Garba expressed the command’s appreciation for the patience and support of the victim’s family, assuring them that the police would continue to stand by them throughout the treatment period.
