The Ijumu Local Government chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has dismissed the reported suspension of Senator Dino Melaye, labeling it a forgery orchestrated by external forces.
In a statement released on Friday, PDP Chairman for Ijumu Local Government, Olorunmaiye Olabode, described the suspension as a plot by “external enemies” and clarified that those behind the move lacked the authority to suspend such a significant party figure as Melaye.
The statement emphasized that the suspension was hurriedly arranged to carry out a malicious agenda, with Olabode reaffirming that no official materials or congresses were conducted in the Ijumu LGA to justify the suspension.
The statement further noted, “We are aware of a communiqué circulating, concocted by external forces seeking to destabilize the party and remove our leader, Senator Dino Melaye, who has done more for PDP in Kogi than any other member.”
The chapter urged all party members to disregard the suspension, asserting that it violated party protocols and that Melaye remains a loyal and vital leader of the PDP.
Melaye was initially suspended by the PDP Ward 1 executives in Ayetoro Gbede for alleged anti-party activities, but the Ijumu chapter has firmly rejected these claims.
