Vice President Kashim Shettima disclosed on Monday that the death toll from the recent suicide bomb attack in Gwoza, Borno State, has climbed to 31.
He further reported that 42 individuals were admitted to the specialist hospital, with 14 already discharged after treatment, while 26 continue to receive medical care.
Shettima, who personally donated to the victims, expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragic explosions. He conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s sympathies to the people of Gwoza and Borno State.
Accompanied by Deputy Governor Babagana Kingibe, Senator Ali Ndume, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Senator Abubakar Kyari, and other officials, the Vice President’s visit aimed to assess the situation and offer support.
President Tinubu condemned the perpetrators of the attack as cowards and assured Nigerians that security forces are intensifying efforts against terrorism. He pledged his administration’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and ensuring justice for the victims of such atrocities.
