Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s daughter, Imade Adeleke, has responded formally to the custody lawsuit filed by the Nigerian musician regarding their child.
Her legal team, led by Anthony Idigbe SAN of Punuka Attorney and Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun, submitted a comprehensive 102-paragraph counter affidavit in court.
Davido recently initiated legal proceedings seeking joint custody and unrestricted access to Imade. The lawsuit, identified as LD/1587PMC/2024, lists Davido as the applicant and Sophia Momodu as the respondent, marking the beginning of their legal dispute.
Davido asserts that despite fulfilling his financial obligations towards Imade, Sophia has made unreasonable demands aimed at harassing him. His aim is to play an active role in his daughter’s life through joint custody.
In contrast, Momodu’s legal team disputes Davido’s claims, stating that he has chosen not to see their daughter since July 2022. Momodu claims sole responsibility for Imade over the past two years, contrasting Davido’s portrayal of himself as a supportive father on social media.
The next court hearing is scheduled for Friday, July 5 (today). This high-profile case is expected to shed light on the complexities of co-parenting in the public eye and the intricacies of custody battles involving celebrities.
While both parties present conflicting accounts, it’s important to note that the allegations in the legal affidavits have yet to be proven in court. The ongoing proceedings in a Lagos high court prioritize the well-being of the child amidst the legal dispute.
