Tension flares within Lagos APC as stakeholders clash over leadership control in Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The Sun reports a disturbance at the party’s Acme secretariat in Ogba, Ikeja, where Cornelius Ojelabi, the party chairman, was allegedly assaulted by disgruntled members from Alimosho LGA.
According to reports, the protesters accused Ojelabi of favouritism in managing the local party affairs. In a viral video, agitated members were seen attempting to remove the chairman’s cap and physically confront him, prompting police intervention to avert further escalation.
The unrest stemmed from dissatisfaction with Ojelabi’s handling of the leadership crisis within the Alimosho chapter.
Allegedly, tensions peaked when the chairman declined the protesters’ demands for immediate resolution measures, insisting on the presence of current officeholders at future discussions.
The incident underscores deep-seated divisions within the Lagos APC, reflecting broader challenges in party management and local leadership dynamics.
