In a significant ruling, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has affirmed Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the duly nominated Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State.
The judgment, delivered by Justice James Omotosho in suit number CS/469/24, upheld Ighodalo’s nomination from the PDP primaries held on February 22nd in Benin City.
The court’s decision dismissed a challenge to Ighodalo’s candidacy filed by Philip Shaibu, former Deputy Governor of Edo State. During the primaries at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Ighodalo secured 577 votes, emerging victorious over Shaibu and 10 other contenders.
This ruling solidifies Ighodalo’s position as the PDP’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State.
