New revelations emerged on Thursday at the Federal High Court in Abuja concerning how the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, paid his daughters’ school fees in U.S. dollars through a Bureau de Change operator, Jamilu Abdullahi.
Testifying as the third witness in the case against Ali Bello, the ex-governor’s nephew, and others facing money laundering charges, Abdullahi detailed how transactions were made for the school fees.
The witness explained that $300,000 was delivered to him by the second defendant, Abba Daudu, for the purpose of covering the school fees of Yahaya Bello’s daughters. He recounted how the sum was handed to him in cash over the weekend and later transferred in four installments of $75,000 each.
Abdullahi further testified that other payments for the school fees were made through companies associated with the defendants, including Aleshua Solutions Services.
The prosecution alleges that the defendants are involved in laundering over ₦3 billion. The case continues with more witnesses expected to testify.
