Officials from Chelsea Football Club are currently in Italy to negotiate the signing of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.
Chelsea is determined to bolster their attacking lineup and believes Osimhen could be the solution to their scoring woes.
The club’s need for a reliable striker has become more pressing following their 2-1 defeat to Swiss side Servette in the UEFA Conference League, despite taking an early lead.
Chelsea faces competition from Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli, who have reportedly made a lucrative offer and reached an agreement with Napoli for Osimhen.
The deal presented by Al Ahli is said to be worth between €75 million and €80 million in total. It includes a four-year contract for Osimhen, with an annual net salary of €25 million to €30 million and a release clause reportedly set below €100 million.
Al Ahli is not taking any chances, however, and has identified England forward Ivan Toney as an alternative if Osimhen opts to join Chelsea. Toney is currently undergoing medical examinations, ready to finalize a deal with the Saudi club if necessary.
Chelsea’s proposal to Osimhen is structured as a loan with an obligation to buy, as they continue to push for his signature to strengthen their attacking options.
