The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has dismissed claims by Niger Republic’s military leader, Abdourahamane Tchiani, that Nigeria is colluding with France to destabilize Niger.
Bwala described the allegations as baseless propaganda designed to create chaos and incite negative sentiments in Northern Nigeria against President Tinubu.
Tchiani, in an interview delivered in Hausa, alleged that France had engaged in negotiations with terrorists in Nigeria to undermine Niger’s stability. He further claimed that a substantial payment was made to Nigeria’s president to establish a military base on Nigerian soil.

In response, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, swiftly refuted the allegations, labeling them as unfounded and malicious.
Reacting further in a video posted on his social media page, Bwala criticized Tchiani’s comments, describing them as a desperate attempt to deflect attention from Niger’s mounting economic and political challenges.
“Yesterday, I came across a video, a despicable propaganda piece by the military head of state of Niger Republic, against the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Bwala said.
“The honeymoon period for the military regime is clearly over. Having failed to address the pressing economic challenges in his country, Tchiani has resorted to spreading falsehoods and propaganda.”
Bwala accused the Nigerien leader of deliberately choosing inflammatory language, possibly in collaboration with local politicians, to create tensions in Northern Nigeria.
“The choice of words used by the military leader is insulting and reveals his intentions. The goal is to create chaos and sow discord in Northern Nigeria against the President,” he added.
The adviser reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering peace and stability in West Africa while maintaining bilateral relations with neighboring countries.
