A massive fire has swept through the popular Araromi spare parts market at Agodi-Gate in Ibadan, Oyo State, causing extensive damage and destroying property worth millions of naira. The inferno reportedly started around 2 a.m. on Saturday and has continued to rage as firefighters strive to bring it under control.

The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident, highlighting the severity of the situation.

“We are battling with a serious inferno at Agodi-Gate. Help us to call water tanker owners to assist us. We are still here battling with the situation,”

Akinyinka stated, calling for additional support from private water tanker operators to combat the fire.

The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the origin of the blaze.

Tragic Fire Incidents Rock Ibadan
This incident marks the latest in a series of devastating fires in Ibadan this week. On Friday, a tragic fire claimed the lives of a family of three — a husband, his wife, and their grandson — in the Ori-Eru, Idikan area of the city. The fire, which broke out at 3:46 a.m., gutted a storey building, leaving the neighborhood in mourning.

In another fire outbreak earlier in the week, on Sunday morning, three shops were destroyed in the Oyo State capital. Fortunately, the prompt arrival of the state fire services prevented further losses, saving 13 other shops from destruction.

Mounting Concerns Over Fire Incidents
The recent spate of fire outbreaks has sparked widespread concern among residents and business owners in Ibadan, many of whom are calling for improved fire prevention measures and better emergency response capabilities.
