Chief Olabode George, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elder and member of its Board of Trustees, has harshly criticised Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, for authorising the sealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
In an interview on Arise Television on Monday, George condemned Wike’s move as a betrayal of the party that shaped his political rise. He labelled the action as “sacrilegious, unacceptable, and culturally inadmissible.”
“This is the party that brought you to life politically. It’s like going to your village and locking up your family house over unpaid ground rent,” George remarked, questioning the necessity of sealing the building over a ₦7 million debt.
He argued that the issue could have been resolved amicably without resorting to what he sees as a disrespectful and politically provocative act, especially considering the secretariat was closed just before a critical National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
George reminded Nigerians that Wike rose through the PDP ranks — from local government chairman to chief of staff, two-term governor of Rivers State, and now a federal minister.
He also challenged Wike to scrutinise the All Progressives Congress (APC) headquarters for similar infractions, stating that “people could be careless”, but that the amount involved was not substantial.
Describing the timing and nature of the move as “deliberate and malicious,” George called on party loyalists to remain calm but alert, warning that the incident may have broader political implications.
