Prominent activist lawyer, Madubuachi Idam, has urged the Nigerian authorities to give serious attention to allegations involving popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also called VeryDarkMan.
The controversy erupted after VeryDarkMan released an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges against him. In the audio, Bobrisky further claimed that although he was sentenced to six months in Kirikiri prison, he never served the time. Instead, a powerful individual reportedly arranged for him to stay in a lodge during the period.
Idam, in a statement to *DAILY POST*, stressed that these allegations must be treated as a national concern, warning against scapegoating Bobrisky or VeryDarkMan. He emphasized the need for an investigation to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s criminal justice system.
He urged authorities to assure Bobrisky of safety and security to encourage him to reveal those involved in the alleged scheme. “The public deserves to know where he spent his prison term and who received the alleged bribe,” Idam stated.
