The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Nigerian parents and guardians to closely monitor the activities of their children and wards to prevent their involvement in potential disruptions during the upcoming nationwide protest.
The call was issued during the 153rd meeting of the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC), as announced by the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, on Wednesday.
The ruling party also appealed to organizers of the protest to reconsider their plans, citing ongoing governmental efforts aimed at tackling Nigeria’s challenges, which may take time to yield visible results.
Basiru reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to revitalizing the economy and addressing various national issues. He emphasized that many economic challenges are global and require comprehensive strategies for resolution.
Furthermore, the APC NWC highlighted that while some protest demands are political, others involve constitutional issues that are being addressed through ongoing amendments at the National Assembly.
In addition to urging confidence in the government’s efforts, the meeting called for an emergency gathering of APC state Chairmen across all 36 states for further deliberations on the matter.
